1. Knowledge
Our 7-week curriculum includes foundational knowledge of anatomy, kinematics, and physiology integral to developing critical thinking in hand therapy. The emphasis is helping new clinicians appreciate the importance of knowledge in these foundational areas to protect and support healing, and to promote recovery and return to function.
2. Confidence
Each week we use case studies to invite an opportunity for experiential learning to reinforce learning and early critical thinking skills. The case studies also provide an opportunity to discuss management of 7 common conditions. The goal is to help early learners understand the power of knowledge, access resources, and develop the confidence to ask questions.
3. Competence
New Hire Primer was developed to start clinicians on the path to achieving competency in the specialty of hand therapy. The early goals are related to insight and safety. "What do I know? What do I need to know and why? What questions should I be asking to keep my patients safe?" Then through our 7-week curriculum, starting them off on an early trajectory of scholarly learning with a clear pathway to continue to develop their knowledge and skills towards competency in upper limb and hand therapy.
4. Mastery
Mastery requires time. For this reason your enrollment period is extended to allow 4-months access. Continue using the curriculum to support patient care and reviewing content to reinforce learning. Experiential learning is also integral to mastery so in addition to our online mentorship, we invite you attend live hands-on learning labs that can be adapted to meet your learning needs.
